Overview

Training includes:

Note: The ammonia drill will be held at another nearby location, the address will be provided at the training. All attendees need to report to the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis in the morning for check-in and the classroom-based portions. You are responsible for your own transportation between training locations.

Attendee Level

  • Multimodal Seminars are for all levels of experience. Target audience is first responders, hazmat stakeholders, small minority/veteran-owned businesses that are unsure if they are dealing with or transporting hazmat. To register for Track 1 click here.
  • Ammonia Training & Live Release Drill Levels of Experience:

    • Awareness Level (May observe the exercise from a safe distance and attend the lecture portion in the morning). 
    • Operations Level (Ammonia Drill – Decon & Air Monitoring)
    • Technician Level or Ammonia Specialist (Ammonia Drill – Entry)

TRACK 2 Schedule

A final schedule will be provided at check-in. All attendees in Track 2 will pick the sessions you would like to attend onsite. You do not need to pre-register for individual break-out sessions. 

    9:00-9:45 AM - General Session/Welcome - All Attendees 

    10:00-10:45 AM - Break-Out Session 1

    11:00-11:45 AM - Break-Out Session 2

  12:30 PM – 4:30 PM {Track 2 – Required Sessions}

  • Ammonia Properties & Emergency Response: An overview of anhydrous ammonia, including its chemical and physical properties, placards, labels, containers, tank construction, and the hazards and potential outcomes associated with an anhydrous ammonia incident.**Required to attend the session starting at 12:30 PM, if you plan on participating in the ammonia drill at either the Technician or Operations Level**
  • Ammonia Drill: Live release ammonia drill for participants to practice and perform basic control and confinement operations, including tarp and cover. Decontamination and air monitoring will also be incorporated into the drill. 

    4:30 PM - Track 2 – Ends at the Drill Site 

Important Details

Required PPE for Drill Participants (MUST BRING WITH YOU):  

  • Operations Level Drill Participants: Turnout Gear or Level B, plus thermal gloves & chemical gloves 
  • Technician Level Drill Participants: Level A or Encapsulated Level B + plus thermal gloves & chemical gloves. You can utilize Level A suits that are expired or did not pass pressure test at this drill. LION MT94 suits are allowed. No Level A training suits are allowed.

*Must be Technician Level to enter the live release area of the ammonia drill. 

*Operations Level can participate in decontamination and air monitoring. 

Please advise the instructor(s) of any pre-existing medical condition(s) that may preclude you from participating in any field exercise. Stay hydrated and alert. 

Check-in and walk-in registration will begin at 8:00AM. Depending on registration and training needs, the training schedule may be adjusted prior to event.

Registration will remain open until after the event. Walk-ins are welcome to register on-site at the training event, however we strongly encourage pre-registration pre-registration for meal planning purposes.
